An unassailable dance center that speaks Japanese well too

“I want to make the group shine with my dancing!”

I love dancing so much that I have no specialty other than dancing! When I’m on stage as the main dancer, I want to perform well enough to draw attention to the members around me and not just only have the gazes on me. My dream is to have a world tour. It may be a big dream, but I want to achieve it with all of IZ*ONE!

I'm really glad that I met the members of IZ*ONE. I’m the happiest when we all laugh together. I’m still lacking in many aspects, but I wish to be someone with variety including all the bad and good things. In short, I want to be a ‘charismatic silly’? (laughs) because being someone with a gap is attractive.

Q1. Where do you want to go to in japan with your members?
Chaeyeon: An amusement park! We’ll dress up, take pictures, eat popcorn and I want to create memories.
Sakura: I'd like to go too~ I want to go to places like Karuizawa or Beppu’s hot spring with everyone and relax there.

Q2. What’s trendy among the members these days?
Sakura: Pickled plums! It's something I really like. The members said “No way” at first, but they slowly got hooked on as they eat it (laughs). I buy bulks of it now.
Chaeyeon: But it’s still difficult for me to eat it... (laughs)

Q3. What’s something you usually carry in your bag?
Sakura: Nintendo switch. I’m so addicted to it, it’s really fun and I always play with it when I have time to spare.
Chaeyeon: In the dorm, Saku-chan is often playing games or sleeping!
Sakura: When I'm playing games, everyone says “There she goes again” and gives me a look.
Chaeyeon: She’s cool on stage, but off stage, she’s like an ‘energy zombie’? (laughs)
Sakura: What does that even mean?!! (laughs)

Q4. Who do you often hang out with among the members?
Sakura: Yena also likes gaming so we often game together or we sometimes talk about comics. I gave her a Mario kart game the other day and she enjoyed playing it. But we didn’t play with each other because I wanted to game alone (laughs). I chose ‘toad’ and Yena chose a princess called ‘Rosetta’.
Chaeyeon: Eh, a princess doesn’t suit Yena. Isn’t she Donkey Kong? (laughs)

Q5. Something you must carry on a flight?
Chaeyeon: Face band. I use it for around 10 minutes before getting off the plane, and it makes my swelling disappear. TWICE Sana sunbaenim told me about this, and I’ve been using it for around 3 years.
Sakura: What about your face roller?
Chaeyeon: I use that in the morning or before I get my makeup done!

Q6. What do you like about Japan?
Chaeyeon: Potato snacks! I like the taste of buttered potato the most. It’s the devil that makes me fat. (laughs)
Sakura: We got it yesterday too. (laughs)
Chaeyeon: Yup, I preciously got it (laughs). I first ate it during PRODUCE 48 and fell for it~
Sakura: When we were dorming, we would bring Japanese snacks while the Korean trainees would bring cup noodles, and we trade it among each other.

Q7. What’s something you’ve been consistently doing to maintain your beauty?
Chaeyeon: I go to the sauna to sweat it out. I don’t eat 3 hours before I go to bed. If I had a heavy dinner that night, I will exercise before sleeping.
Sakura: I apply a body cream that will be washed off when I’m bathing. It’s convenient because I can wash it off when I bath, and it’s a must-use item during winter.

Q8. Tell us your mottos.
Sakura: Your dream is only 1mm ahead from how much your hand reached out.
Chaeyeon: There’s nothing impossible as long as you put in enough effort.

Q9. Tell us the behind story of the music video shooting!
Sakura: It was really cold because it’s December so we Oshikara manju while filming. (laughs)
Chaeyeon: When I’m cold, my nose gets red easily so I filmed while holding hand warmers. (laughs) Our dancing is slightly different from the dance version.
Sakura: Yes that’s right. The dancing scene with the long coats is something you can only see in the music video.
(T/N: Oshikara manju is a Japanese game that is played on cold days in order to get warm.)

Q10. What’s your favourite fashion item?
Sakura: Kang-chan’s fashion. It feels luxurious but cute at the same time.
Chaeyeon: I like wearing jackets with matching pants or skirts. I like the mature feeling. I put in a lot of thoughts on this whenever I go to the airport.
Sakura: That’s impressive! I often search up on Korean idols’ airport fashion which made me think that it’s important to dress well at the airport. I always just simply wear anything... (laughs) I want to have Kang-chan style me!

Q11. Recommend us a place to visit in Korea!
Chaeyeon: Mangwon-dong! There’s a famous market there and the food’s cheap! A fried bread would cost about 50 yen. There’s a famous fried chicken called dakgangjeong (sweet and sour chicken) which I like a lot as well.
Sakura: Eh~ I want to go too!

Q12. Something you’re hooked on these days?
Chaeyeon: I’m looking for a massage parlour in Japan that presses hard (laughs). I want to go to many places quickly!
Sakura: Self-cooking. I like searching for the best recipes online. I compare the reviews in detailed, and take my time to research on it. My best dish is yuringi (fried chicken with hot and sour soy sauce)!
Chaeyeon: I want to try it~ I also want to have the oyakodon (rice bowl dish) Saku-chan made when she was on a Korean programme.
